Dear Friends of The Deaf and Blind, A few days back I attended a very interesting debate in Yadavindra Public School Patiala. 13 Public schools were taking part to include the following: Doon School Dehardun Lawerence School Sanawar Bishop Cotton School Shimla Mayo College Ajmer Pinegrove School Sabathu This is to inform you that the debate was amongst the best public schools of North India. The topic of debate was: Is justice denied to those who remain silent? At the conclusion of the debate I was very perturbed as not a single speaker referred to the silent majority of DEAF, BLIND,MENTALLLY RETAREED, and other disabilities who perpetually remain silent all their lives. Some do get justice while a majority suffer in silence. Those speaking FOR and AGAINST the motion kept on harping on Mahatma Gandhi only. What a disturbing situation? What a low standard of our elite education? What a lack of knowledge of the special children? Here was an opportunity where the Deaf, the MR could have played a major role in this debate. At the end when the debate was open for discussion I blasted the hell out of the participants, the lackdisacal education system and the poor standard of the teachers who prepared the students. This was duly acknowleged by all present. Please forward your comments on how we can reverse this system.
