  2. Dear friends of DEAF and BLIND and special children,
A few days back I attended a debate in Yadavindra Public School Patiala in which 13 reputed Public schools of North India took part.
Some of the schools were such as:
    Doon School Dehradun
    Lawrence School Sanawar
    Bishop Cotton School Shimla
    Pine Grove School Sabathu
    Daly college Indore
    Scindia School Gwalior
    etc etc //////
    The topic of discussion was:
Is Justice denied to those who remain silent?
I was very perturbed at the end of the debate as not a single speaker, those speaking FOR or AGAINST the motion mentiond about the silent minority of DEAF, BLIND, MENTALLY RETARDED,CEREBARL PALSY Etc etc and the other catergories of special children.
These are the special children who remain silent all thier lives and some do get justice and some have not ever heard about justice.
At the conclusion of the debate, when it was thrown open to audience I blasted the hell out of all the participants, the teachers, the schools and the education system of ours.
Is this the education which we are going to give?
Is this the standard of our public schools?
Is this the standard of our Public school teachers?
Is this what the CBSE and the ICSE board want to teach?
Each and every student only thought of Mahatma Gandhi the silent crusader, but NONE thought of this special category. What a shame it was?
Let us join hands to eliminate this lack of knowledge, lack of understanding of our special children. At our own level let us educate the schools, the teachers , the public about our concerns.

  3. Deafness is something that is experienced on a daily basis, from the minute you are born (if you are born deaf) until after retirement. Whether you have hearing aids, a cochlear implant, or use sign language, you are always deaf.

  4. Do you know that these days hearing loss can be diagnosed during infancy before the mother and child leave hospital.Advanced countries have sophisticated equipment to do so,but for poor countries where infrastructure is not available,I recommend that simply give a clap near the ear of a new born baby of a few days and you will see flicker of acknowledgement. For a third world country like India, I recommend this simple method to parents for early identification and intervention. Please comment.
